FRIED APPLE SANDWICH

This vegan recipe for a fried apple sandwich with a tasty spice mixture was inspired by my Dutch grandmother and it it still a perfect snack!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 apple
  • 2 cardamom cloves
  • 1 teaspoon coconut sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, grated
  • 2 tablespoons vegan butter
  • 1 bread roll

Instructions
 

  • First, gather all your ingredients and prepare them in the right amounts. That makes it so much easier and more fun and you're less likely to forget anything. 
  • Cut apple in 5 mm thick slices.
  • Heat a large pan, melt a little vegan butter and fry the apple slices from both sides until golden brown and soft.
  • In the meantime, open cardamom cloves and grind in an electric spice grinder. You could also use a mortar and pestle.
  • Mix with coconut sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  • Butter the bread roll, layer the apple slices and sprinkle the spice mixture.
