Heat a pan over medium-high heat and add a little vegetable oil. Cut the tofu into thin slices (approx. 0.3 cm) and place them side by side in the pan.

Meanwhile, mix soy sauce, maple syrup, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder together in a small bowl.
Flip the tofu slices one by one. If any are still quite pale, move them to the center of the pan. Now fry until crispy on the other side. The tofu is done when you lift a slice, with tongs, for example, and it no longer wobbles.
Brush the soy sauce mixture onto the tofu slices. A pastry brush works best for this. Then immediately flip, toss to coat, and remove from the pan and serve.
